Milton Green was a humble carpet cleaner who, after a terrible childhood with an abusive and violent father and a lifetime of drink and drugs, found himself to be a social outcast and unable to hold a conversation.

At the age of 43 Milton had a major heart attack. Open heart surgery was attempted but Milton was told that his veins were “like wood” and “like the veins of a 90 year old man”. Doctors told Milton they were unable to do anything for him. Basically Milton was sent home to die.

At that time Milton had not been married long, as he had married late, and his wife Joyce was a Christian. Milton felt suicidal, he felt his life was all but over and yet for many months was terrified to go to sleep in case he died and woke up in Hell.  Milton prayed to be spared. He repented of his wayward life and in the months that followed, Milton repeatedly petitioned God to save Him, and not to let him die.

Milton once told a journalist about his childhood and the journalist found it so difficult to believe he decided to visit the place Milton came from. He found to his amazement that what he had been told was true.

Milton passed over more than 20 years ago but in his lifetime he was somewhat targeted, ostracized, and even hated by certain others, as a result of some of the things he said and the way he said them.  Milton did not seek the approval of men, which is something people have a tendency to do, though the Bible tells us we must not look for the approval of men, only for the approval of God.

Milton speaks the truth in a straight-talking way and doesn’t mince words.  Unlike so many he does have a great sense of true humour and sense of timing, such as when he says: “What’s the Greek for falling away?” and the audience shout in unison: “Falling away!”  Then he asks: “Are all Greeks saved?”  He calls the body the “carton.”  He will say something like: “Overcoming doesn’t mean going to church in the rain.”  Or: “You got your scissors with you?  Then when you see something you don’t like you can just cut it out.”

Milton is an ordinary yet extraordinary human being. He could not perhaps be called an educated or cultured man, but then several of the Apostles were fishermen while the ‘learned’ men of the time plotted to murder Jesus.

After his heart attack, Milton went on to live another 15 years during which time he spoke at many seminars around the country, some lasting several days. In his no-nonsense sermons, Milton clearly explains simply how we can easily discern the true gospel from the ‘doctrine of demons’ and separate ourselves from sin, evil and our satanic nature so we can begin to truly walk with God.
