Abuse Recover From All Seven Forms
Abuse is the improper use of power by one person to the detriment of another.
It can occur: in homes as child abuse or domestic violence; in workplaces as sexual or racial harassment; in church organizations as manipulative power control and in governments as arrogant disregard for the needs of disadvantaged persons in the community.
There are many forms of abuse:
Seven Recognized Forms Of Abuse
1. Physical Violence
Striking, punching, pushing, shoving, pinching, biting, throwing objects, smashing precious collections and personal property.
2. Sexual Violence
Forced or tricked hurting, forced and unwanted forms of sex; forced rape, oral sex, sodomy, pornography and masturbation.
3. Verbal Violence
Shouting, rage, put downs, comparisons with previous spouse, target low-self esteem, insecurity, profanity and sarcasm.
4. Social Violence
Isolation from friends, confining to house, smothering, constant telephoning to check up on another and jealousy.
5. Economic Violence
Keeping a spouse poor so spouse has to ask for essentials; keeping total control of finances; unhealthy relationships.
6. Spiritual Abuse
Selective use of scriptures, e.g. “Wives be submissive to your husbands” without regard to it’s context, namely, “Submit yourselves to one another” and “husbands love your wives…” or “church abuse” where leadership have complete control over members based on fear and manipulation; extreme control.
7. Mental Abuse
Emotional abuse and neglect: severe anxiety, depression and withdrawal; harmful influences of pornography; starvation; criminal behavior, substance abuse; trauma or unstable home life.
These different forms of abuse frequently occur together and they are often hidden within the family structure of both Christians and non-Christians households.
Prayers & Confessions to Break The Power of Abuse
Father, in the name of Jesus, I receive and confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and ask that Your will be done in my life. Or you may pray this for others (insert the names as you pray).
Thank You that you have rescued me from the dominion of darkness and have brought me into the Kingdom of Your dear Son, Jesus. Once, I was in darkness, but now I am in light, in You. I walk as a child of light.
The abuse is exposed for what it is and reproved by the light of the Word: it is made visible and very clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light.
I desire to be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer only. A history of abuse has been in my family for generations. It is a curse that has caused me to act hostile and abusive to others. I promised myself that I would not be like my ancestors, but I have not been able to break the cycle of abuse. Today, I come seeking Your help.
I confess my sin of abuse. I confess my sin of allowing others to abuse others and me. I now ask Your forgiveness. You are faithful and just to forgive my sin and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I am so tired of this cycle of abuse, which has me re-living the past over and over, fueling the generational curse of anger and abuse.
Jesus was made a curse for me; therefore, Lord, I put on Your whole armor that I may be able to successfully stand against the tricks and set ups of the devil. I reject every generational curse of abuse off my bloodline and me. I speak and say that every evil power of abuse is now broken, overthrown and cast down, in the name of Jesus.
I now submit myself to You and resist the devil. The need to hurt and control others no longer lives inside my family or me. I declare and say I am free! We are free! In the name of Jesus, amen.
Heal From Abuse
Change from victim to victor and overcomer
Lord thank You for guiding me through the steps to wholeness: spirit, soul and body. You have begun a good work in me, and You will perform it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Since I am now free, it is my desire to forget those things that are behind and press toward a new future ahead. My past will no longer control my mind; my thoughts; my behavior; or my actions. I choose to walk by the Spirit and not the flesh.
I forgive my abusers and release them into Your mercy and love. I refuse to take back the hurt and pain of the abuse. I focus fully on You, Lord, and receive my total healing of spirit, soul and body. I am a new creature; guilt, condemnation and shame are not part of my new life in Christ Jesus. Thank You; Lord, for the freedom to choose the blessing and not the curse, in the name of Jesus.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me, declares the Lord.
