This peace bought for us by Jesus is more than a peaceful feeling. The Hebrew word means completeness, welfare, peace, safety, soundness in body, health, prosperity, quiet, tranquility, contentment, friendship.
In Hebrew, the literal translation is “Nothing missing, nothing broken”, so it is often used to describe ‘salvation’ in Hebrew – the completeness offered by Jesus the Messiah – Shalom describes our new covenant relationship to God through Christ’s blood and sacrifice. We become not only His child but His friend.
