In my seeing, I saw the stars of the sky falling like apples of a great tree shaken by a wind. The stars appeared like immense crystal globes full of light, cast down upon the earth. I saw the homes of many people in cities, crushed and destroyed in great pits of smoking fire and a strange noise like nothing that I have ever heard. I was unsure of the significance of that. I wasn’t sure whether the noise had occurred because the stars had fallen to the earth. Or was their fall due to the strange noise?

I saw many people screaming and roaring with cries of anguish, and of fear, and of pain like slaughtered animals. It was horrible to hear, some going mad with pain and the horror of the sudden destruction of their whole world. The impossible was happening.
