God Is

  1. GOD IS.
  2. God has created ALL that has been created, nothing else has been created that He did not create.
  3. God keeps alive ALL that has been created, thus without God all would disappear into nothingness, whence it came from.
  4. God has every right to dispose and rule His creation as He wills, for he created it and keeps it alive.
  5. God has revealed Himself generally in Nature and also His will specifically in the Bible, which is inerrant and the only sure reference.
  6. God has decreed that disobedience against his perfect will is sin to his Holy Self, and that sin will NOT enter His Holy presence, forever.
  7. God states that every single human being (except Christ the man) has committed sin and therefore cannot enter His Holy Presence.
  8. God asserts that there is absolutely nothing that man can do or give to save his soul, for every single human being has sinned.
  9. God has provided for His people a vicarious sacrifice perfect in every way and ALL sufficient.
  10. Jesus Christ, God’s Only begotten Son and the Only Saviour under Heaven.

1. GOD IS

Nowhere it is stated from where God comes from or how long He has been there. It is simply stated that God IS, and not in the form “God exists” but “God IS” i.e. “I AM THAT I AM”, “Before Abraham I am”. This clarifying that God does not live in time, as we know it, but that Past, Present, Future are all known to Him, all at the same ‘time’, that is “God IS”. Moreover, His ALL knowing is not because He “foresaw” in “time”, rather, He foresaw what He decreed should come to pass, both at the same ‘time’, for He IS.

God cannot be proven in the Natural for He is Spirit and those who come to Him must believe (have faith) that He IS. The statement “God IS” can be Accepted or Rejected but cannot be Changed.

“I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that [there is] none beside me. I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else.” Isa 45:5,6

“And God said to Moses, I AM THAT I AM. And He said, So you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.” Exo 3:14

“Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” Joh 8:58

“Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me.” Isa 46:9

“I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Rev 1:8

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Heb 11:6

2.   God has created ALL that has been created, nothing else has been created that He did not create

There was a “time” when God was by Himself and there was nothing beside Him. Then God decided to create and of all the infinite possibilities he could create, he created (out of nothing) this possibility, as we know it. This possibility had intertwined with the will of God all the wilful action of mankind, good and bad, all. With a FIAT God created, out of nothing, all that has been created and for his pleasure. There is nothing that has been created that He did not create. All that exists, he created. This makes Him the absolute Owner and Sovereign of everything that He has created, and there is none other.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Gen 1:1,27

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of Heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. And He has made all nations of men of one blood to dwell on all the face of the earth, ordaining fore-appointed seasons and boundaries of their dwelling.” Act 17 24,26

“For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else.” Isa 45:18

“Know that the LORD, He is God. He has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.” Psa 100:3

“Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.” Psa 148:5

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:” Col 1:16

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rev 4:11

3.   God keeps alive ALL that has been created, thus without God all would disappear into nothingness, whence they came from

Since He created all things Out-of-Nothing, He must keep the full creation alive, for the creation has no life of its own but depends on the life force of God. Does it take more life-force to Create or to keep Alive? Were God to say: “I am fed up of all this” then the whole creation would go back to the nothingness from whence it came from. This means that God has, in effect, Double ownership of His creation, for not only He created it out-of-nothing but He also keeps it alive by His own mighty Power.

“And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Gen 2:7

“Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life, and breath, and all things. For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.” Act 17:25,28

“In whose hand [is] the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:10

“For He is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto Him.” Luk 20:38

4.   God has every right to dispose and to rule His creation as He wills, for he has both created it and keeps it alive

Since God both created and keeps alive ALL that has been created, He has absolute Sovereignty on All that exists and can dispose of it in any and every possible way, all of it or any single minute part.

This means that God has every absolute right to dispose of His creation as He pleases, and no one can ask Him: “What are you doing?”

“Therefore He has mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He will, He hardens. You will then say to me, Why does He yet find fault? For who has resisted His will? No, but, O man, who are you who replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to Him who formed it, “Why have you made me this way?” Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel to honour and another to dishonour?” Rom 9:18:21

“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Phi 2:13

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD as the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He will.” Pro 21:1

“Woe to him who fights with the One who formed him, a potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to its former, What are you making? Or your work, He has no hands?” Isa 45:9

“See now that I, [even] I, [am] he, and [there is] no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither [is there any] that can deliver out of my hand.” Deu 32:39

5.   God has revealed of Himself generally in Nature and also of His will specifically in the Bible, which is inerrant and the only sure reference

About the existence of God, mankind is left without excuse for nature itself, by its perfection, necessarily calls for a creator. It is quite normal for us when we see, say a beautiful car to ask: “who made it?” and the same when we observe, for example, the awesome perfection of the planets. Moreover, the God of Creation has not been silent but has communicated His will to His creation through His oracles such as Prophets and Holy Scripture, The Bible. All that we know of God is only what He has revealed of Himself, specifically through the Bible. There is no other revelation of God other than what He has revealed Himself and it is complete and perfect for our salvation. This makes every man responsible of his actions in front of God’s, according to the revelation he has received.

“For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” Rom 1:20

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” Luk 21:33

“And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.” Luk 16:17

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isa 40:8

“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” 1 Pe 1:25

“All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Ti 3:16

“For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Heb 4:12

6.   God has decreed that disobedience against his perfect will is sin to his Holy Self, and that sin will NOT enter His Holy presence

Someone may say: “Who He thinks He is, I am my own man and I do what I like without having to give reason for it to anyone.” Yeah! Someone may say that, but he only fools himself. Even in any human society one cannot do that, for man’s laws limit his actions in one way or the other. The more so God that has created and keeps alive all that is created, including the man, himself. So God has every right to impose on the creature His will and to demand that it be performed as He wants it, rightly punishing any rebelling to it. Now God is above all Love but He is also Holy and Just, and these attributes must be satisfied in Him, as He wills. This means that God cannot tolerate disobedience to His perfect will (sin) and He must punish it (he has every right to do it) and that sin cannot enter in His presence.

And God spoke all these words, saying, I am the LORD your God.

You shall have no other gods before Me.

You shall not make to yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me, and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me and keep My commandments.

You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. For the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work. But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. You shall not do any work, you nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and sanctified it.

Honour your father and your mother, so that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

You shall not kill.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.

You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbour’s.

7.   God states that every single human being (except Christ the man) has committed sin and therefore cannot enter His Holy Presence, forever

Not only God is the perfect creator, but He is also the perfect Judge of His creation and he does know that not a single human being is without sin, all have come short of the mark. No, No one has made it.

This means that on that score, no one measures up to be in front of God, that is, being worth of eternal life in His presence.

As it is written: “There is none righteous, no not one; there is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God.” They are all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable, there is none that does good, no, not one.” “Their throat is an open grave, with their tongues they have used deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips; whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness;” “their feet are swift to shed blood; destruction and misery are in their way, and the way of peace they did not know.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Rom 3:10-18

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Co 6:9

“Envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Gal 5:21

“Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, for sin is lawlessness.” 1 Jo 3:4

“And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Mat 13:42

“Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” 2 Th 1:9

“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Rev 14:11

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Rev 21:8

8.   God asserts that there is absolutely nothing that man can do or give to save his soul, for every single human being has sinned and cannot give anything acceptable to cover his rebellion

Since God cannot tolerate anything sinful in His presence (and He has every right to it) this puts sinful man in a quandary. For, in one hand, because of his rebellion against God he is unfit to be in His presence and on the other he cannot give anything to atone his sin for all he can give to God is marred by his sin, and therefore not acceptable. What can man do now? Absolutely nothing, of his own.

“For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mat 16:26

“For what is the hope of the ungodly when He cuts off, when God takes away his soul?” Job 27:8

“Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one.” Job 14:4

“Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by [his] fruit.” Mat 12:33

“For who makes you to differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?” 1Co 4:7

“The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jer 17:9

9.   God has provided for His people a vicarious sacrifice, perfect in every way and ALL sufficient

Now, one of God’s perfect attributes is Love, Perfect Love, disinterested Love. To demonstrate this perfect love towards His elect God provided Himself a Perfect Vicarious sacrifice to atone their sins (rebellion against God’s will) completely and forever, The man Jesus Christ. Before the world was, God decreed that His only begotten Son shall, “in time” walk with sinful men and be sacrificed on the cross receiving there on Himself the full wrath of God’s Justice for the sins of His elect. This means that there, (once for all) He fully atoned for them what was due, consequently making them forensically clean to be in the presence of God. On that basis God has maintained perfect His attributes: Love, Justice, Holiness. It is of Grace, a non-merited favour. He placed their sin as far as East is from the West.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ; according as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, in which He has made us accepted in the One having been loved.” Eph 1:3-6

“We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 Jo 4:19

“For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Eph 2:8,9

“…… we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Heb 10:10

“As far as the east is from the west, [so] far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psa 103:12

10.   Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, lived on the earth as a true man, but committed no sin, He obeyed God, His Father, in everything. Here is then an acceptable sacrifice to atone (settle the score) the sins of another man, as God required from His creation. But one righteous man can atone only for another man. However, Jesus Christ was both man and God, thus being also God (The SON), His atonement has infinite value to atone all sins (past, present and future) of His people. Here, then, is manifested the Love of God towards His elect. The only thing they need to do to ascertain reception of eternal life in the presence of God is to see if they can confess with their mouths and truly believe in their hearts the sacrifice Christ Jesus has made for them. It may seem an easy thing to do, but can only be done if God has given a new heart, has granted repentance and rebirth in His Spirit. This is the wonderful benevolent nature of the God of Love and this not of our own, but by Grace through Faith.

“And she shall bear a son, and you shall call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.” Mat 1; 20; 21

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. He who believes on the Son has everlasting life, and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides upon him.” John 3:16,18,36

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom 6:23

“Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” Rom 10:9

“He who believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself. He who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he does not believe the record that God gave of His Son. And this is the record, that God has given to us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:10-13

“And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.” Acts 13:48Acts 13:48

“When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then has God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” Acts 11:18
