The first sign Jesus gave heralding the last days was deception (Matt. 24:4). This warning was later echoed by the Apostles John (1 John 4:1); Peter (2:1-3); and Jude. And of course Paul: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils,” (1 Timothy 4:1).
People often get saved, or at least begin to believe in God or in Jesus, by listening to false teachers or prophets, and will later move on away from them. If you discover your favorite “Bible” teacher mentioned, please research. Very few, if any, teachers get everything right, but what they say and teach should not be way out of line with scripture. False doctrine is in the domain of the Jezebel spirit and is very dangerous in a number of ways.
This list represents a growing collection of false prophets and teachers in the church now promoting the prosperity gospel, the Occult, New Age, the Emergent Church, Latter Rain-Manifest Sons of God, Word of Faith, and a myriad of other chaotic Charismania collectively promoting and employing blasphemous eastern religious practices such as shamanism (occult overtures), kundalini (slain in the spirit), divination (words of knowledge, prophesies, tongues and interpretations so called).
“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.” (James 3:1)

From Wikipedia: Heresy is any belief or theory that is strongly at variance with established beliefs or customs. Heresy is distinct from both apostasy, which is the explicit renunciation of one’s religion, principles or cause, and blasphemy, which is irreverance toward religion.
Heresy is usually used to discuss violations of religious or traditional laws or legal codes, although it is used by some political extremists to refer to their opponents. It carries the connotation of behaviours or beliefs likely to undermine accepted morality and cause tangible evils, damnation, or other punishment.
In Abrahamic religions, it also implies that the heretic is in alliance with the religion’s symbol of evil, such as Satan or Chaos. In certain historical Christian, Jewish, and some modern cultures including Islam, espousing ideas deemed heretical was punishable by law.
The term heresy is from Greek αἵρεσις originally meant “choice” or “thing chosen”, but it came to mean the “party or school of a man’s choice” and also referred to that process whereby a young person would examine various philosophies to determine how to live.
The word “heresy” is usually used within a Christian, Jewish, or Islamic context, and implies slightly different meanings in each. The founder or leader of a heretical movement is called a heresiarch, while individuals who espouse heresy or commit heresy are known as heretics. Heresiology is the study of heresy.
According to Titus 3:10 a divisive person should be warned two times before separating from him. The Greek for the phrase “divisive person” became a technical term in the early church for a type of “heretic” who promoted dissension.

People are fallible. God’s word isn’t, so always check against (preferably KJV) scripture.
I would like to add to this list Brennan Manning, Contemplative Christianity along with many other Catholic and Christian authors. There are some wonderful Christian books, far too many to list, but a very large percentage of these books contain false doctrine and they are also far too many to list.
It would be wise for anyone to check carefully before paying out their hard-earned cash to buy a book that may be attractive in one way or another, but will not do much good and could potentially do great harm as even listening to or reading false doctrine can open demonic doorways.
Check carefully on Google or see the foot of this page for links to some discernment ministry sites where it is easy to check and find out whether a preacher is possibly a false teacher and why.
The enemy looks for a chink in our armour, to get a toehold, then a foothold, then a stronghold, then a stranglehold. We are warned in God’s word to be wary and watchful, as no one is immune to deception, unless we are so prideful as to think we know it all.
“Of all deadly sins, this is the most deadly, namely, that any one should think he is not guilty of a damnable and deadly sin before God:” Martin Luther. Yet some say Martin Luther was himself guilty of a degree of anti-semitism which according to the Bible is specifically cursed by God.
It is a cliche, but still it is good policy to be better safe than sorry and keep away from false doctrine and anyone involved in it. As God’s word tells us that means many, even most, Christian teachers. The fruit of their false teaching can be quite upsetting and personally damaging as many will testify.
“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.” (2 Peter 2:1)
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” (Ephesians 5:11)
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” (Luke 16:10)
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (Hebrews 5:14)
“Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” (Malachi 3:18)

On the contrary, the aim is to encourage people to look to the Word of God and not the word of any man, no matter who he might be.

The Bible says in the Last Days there not that there will be many false teachers, but most will be false.
Only Jesus and the Holy Spirit can fulfill that role of the perfect Teacher. The Good Shepherd and His Sheep
A friend of mine was very excited about a Joseph Prince book she was reading but asked for my opinion. It did not take but a few chapters to realize that He is a false teacher. If you know your scriptures, it does not take long before one realizes these hirelings don’t pass the smell test. I think sometimes we do not trust that first impression picked up in the Spirit. We want to be nice and not critical. With so much deception, it would appear these “feelings” are a bit of a luxury. Joseph Prince is a hyper grace teacher and refuses any notion of suffering or the narrow path. He will not tolerate what he calls negativity. His teachings are esoteric and mystical. Almost like Norman Vincent Peale, Robert Schuler and Joel Olsteen rolled into one. My recommendation…if I be so bold, is be very well versed in teachings of the Great teacher and proceed with these ultra wealthy televangelists like a BEREAN. Much of what you hear sounds good to your flesh and that should be of concern. We have been warned about seeking teachers that tickle our ears. It’s really true…a little leaven spoils the entire loaf!

I mean the main thing that is if they preach salvation by grace through faith. If any man preach any other gospel but the gospel of grace let him be anathema. After that they might have character faults but that dosnt neccasary make them a false teacher. A true teacher will repent and get purer and purer. The path of the just is a shining light getting brighter and brighter until that perfect day. You are responsible for your own salvation. The reason people follow blind leaders is they are blind. When you outgrow them god will move you. Now if any the things jesus said and did were written in detail even the world itself would not be able to contain the books that would be written. If god wanted more books written outside his word then jesus words would surely have filled many many books .how can you believe that seek glory one from another. The reason for all these books and false teachings outside the bible is simply people want the glory. Seek to glorify jesus and you will be golden. If someone serves money there eye is full of darkness don’t follow them. Next no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation the scripture confirms itself bow to stern the scripture cannot be broken. Study the bible meditate on it day and night . When you fast when you pray when ye give to the poor not if. The annointing of the holy spirit will keep you out of deception in the long run. And thus you have for them that try to seduce ypu the annointing which is truth and is no lie. This is the same holy spirit you recieve when you are a true born again spirit. He will check your spirit when something is off he will lead and guide you into all truth. It is possible to fall into false doctrine for a time as a true christian. But God will lead you out of it. We have not “rebuked false teachers”. The Bible says we are to “expose the works of the devil” which we believe includes exposing false teachers, not as the central point of belief but as part of it.
False teachers and the belief in them and what they say – and people judging Christianity by their works – causes many problems. One only has to read what the Bible says about false teachers to know how much God hates them, and that is perfectly understandable.
What is more, we are not saying people ought to follow me or anyone but follow Jesus and listen to what He says, and what the Bible says. It is Jesus who should be glorified, not any person at all. “There is no one righteous, no, not one.” What is wrong with that?

I like that lucre lover. I agree those were false teachings that william branham taught. But as far as the fruit of the spirit and the general course of his life william branham is one of the best examples of a man of god I know. He was an evangelist and prophet. At the end of his life he got off track and started teaching craziness. None of his prophecies ever failed. And they were prophecies like aDolph Hitler coming to power. If that man did not walk in love and the fruit of the spirit I don’t know anyone that did. Peter got off on false teaching paul rebuked him peter denied jesus yet he was true. David a man after gods own heart slept with a man’s wife and got him hiller in battle yet he was a man after gods heart. If you have more fruit of the spirit then william branham ghat would be a site to see. Yes those doctrines you named are false . Branham taught salvation by grace through faith and glorified jesus christ. Are David and peter false because they were not perfect. That is really grieving you said that about branham if he was alive he would pray for you in the gentleness and meekness of christ.partly Because of branham I am the man of god I am today. Hd was not perfect but not one of his prophecies ever failed and he walked in humility and love more then anyone I know. I sm not attacking you but would you like to be called false to the core because you had a couple miseps in doctrine. Yes those were false teachings yes David committed adultery but David was still a man after gods own heart. If David were alive today you would call him false.
Just a quick question… Are you stating that all speaking in tongues, prophecy, gift of knowledge, etc are false? or just those specifically not given by and professing the will of the Holy Spirit that never contradicts the word of God?
We don’t recall saying any such thing implying “all” although certainly some, if not many. The Bible itself says that in the last days not some will be false teachers, but many!
I think we should leave the judging of spiritual manifestations to God especially if we can find them in the Bible. See the book of Acts. Paul said in the New Testament of all the gifts desire prophecy.
Also I’ve read some of the material of the people you listed. I take what they say and hold it up against the word of God. I ask the Holy Spirit to reveal His truth. Some you have to throw out a segment of what they say. They see in part and know in part. Early Christians validated slavery with the Bible. No one would applaud that today. Each person is responsible to God for how they live, and teachers are held to a higher standard. The best use of time is to pray for them and teach truth.
The devil likes to go around exposing people. Jesus went around teaching the truth. Not saying we should not ever speak out against things that are not biblical, yet I’d guess the majority of people believe what they are saying is true & have not been exposed to truth.
The Bible tells us to gently lead a brother or sister back to truth. Not publicaly humiliate them. That’s what the Pharasees liked to do. Why not individually contact each ministry with concerns and pray for them. God handles people far better than we can. And God is love. Love doesn’t seek to humiliate or expose. Love seeks to restore.
That’s not what the Bible says. The Bible tells us to ‘test the spirits’ and ‘expose the works of the devil’.
It doesn’t make sense that the devil would ‘go around exposing people’. The Bible tells us a house divided against itself cannot stand.
This is no small matter. If we are listening to false doctrine and following false teachers this creates demonic doorways which can have devastating consequences.
According to the Bible which talks about the blind not leading the blind lest they both fall into a pit, this is a vital subject.

What about Derek Prince? I’ve started relying on his teachings in order to get fed spiritually. I believe he is biblically sound. What do you say? And Mark Virkler (Communion with God Ministries)? I’ve taken his 4 Keys to Hearing God’s Voice 10-week course. Now i’m not so sure. It sounds to new to be biblical.
Derek Prince is fine. He did run into some trouble into his ministry by getting involved with some others in something that wasn’t so good but repented of it. He was a great Bible scholar and there is some of his work on this site.
Jesus said He Himself was the Good Shepherd and ALL others were hirelings and would flee when the wolf came. We are supposed to turn to God and to Jesus rather than to man. The Bible tells us there is no other name by which men must be saved, but the name of Jesus.
The Bible tells us not that there will be many false teachers in the last days, but that most will be false teachers. Therefore we need to be very careful who we listen to, and test the spirits, checking everything carefully against God’s word.
The Bible advises us to stay away from denominations. Although of course there will be many good Christians within the denominational churches.
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them [which are of the house] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” (Corinthians 1:12)
I would not trust Mark Virkler. I believe his teachings and the wording he uses like “flow” and others is new age. Plus, I would be careful with any body that Sid Roth endorses, if that is where you found out about Mark Virkler.
What about Preachers who do conferences with some of the people on this list, such as Perry Stone?
He’s known to do Mega Conferences with the likes of Steve Munsey and Rod Parsley.

I doubt that you have ever seen, let alone read, a copy of the 1611 King James Bible. If you have then you’ll know that the term “Jesus” does not appear in the 1611 version.

It is written that in the last days there will be a great falling away, and that men will no longer stand for sound doctrine, preferring instead the doctrines of demons. So one does not have to try at all – it is increasingly the case that many so-called “ministers” are nothing of the sort. These charlatans are easy to spot, of course: if you want to find false teaching, just follow the money – and be aware that “successful” ministries usually have large followings because they tell people with itching ears what they want to hear, rather than fearlessly proclaiming the true word of God.

A regenerate man trusts in the evangelism of salvation conditioned on the atoning blood and imputed justness of Messiah alone. Hide our brothers faults don’t announce them to the world and cause problems in the body? Some of these people listed here have been of great help to many christians in there walk and I’m sure some are not on point with scripture. This I agree, but alot of them are though. So we need to be careful. Just because the apostles named a few names doesn’t in any way mean that’s an excuse for us to do it. R.W Shambach is one of my favorite old school preachers. Preached Jesus and the blood! And his sermon on not worrying was great and helpful. He was a funny guy to. One of my brothers saw him when he was a kid and it changed his life. He is a born again believer and preaches the the gospel? We are called to pray for people not put them on display for humiliation?? Remember Jesus hides our sins from the father by washing them clean as snow through his blood. We also need to make sure everything we do and say is coming from Love. Love ties all things together. Those that have been set free by the truth love the Truth. Half truth, tainted truth or blatant lies will not be received nor tolerated by these men. Give me absolute truth or I die.
Then we are looking at Jesus Himself, who provides us with the benchmark.
Prior to the letter “J” being devised by man and being introduced into the English language (1640 ish) no man had ever heard the name Jesus.
That is a matter of pronunciation which varies from language to language, and pronunciation does not seem so essential in the scheme of things. Surely no one would reasonably deny that the power is in the name of Jesus with a ‘jay’, and no less or no more than Yeshua. The power in the name of Jesus (Yeshua) is not rationed out according to which language it is said in.
In fact there are some who say that to use the Hebrew names is a subtle form of Christian witchcraft.
There are those that recognise truth and receive it with gladness. There are those that don’t receive but oppose truth and then call good evil.
By that do you mean it is evil to use the name of Jesus?
The Enemy would be more than happy if more and more disputes arose about which variation of the name of Jesus to use, while not doing what we ought to have done.

Critics say that in their labor to get the pronunciation “Yahshua” out of יהושע, they are ignoring Hebrew linguistics that do not allow the waw to be silent so “Yahshua” is a questioned transliteration. However, the Assemblies of Yahweh point out that the following:

The problem with that assertion is that in the above case the vowels are NOT side by side but separated by a consonant: Yehoshuah’.
Yeshua or Yahshua? Most prefer to use the term Yeshua rather than Yahshua, using the “Ye” instead of “Yah”, but the Assemblies of Yahweh believe that was a ploy to prevent the name of Yahweh (or Yah) appearing in the Messiah’s name as follows: The term ‘Yeshua’ appears (as the Kittel Theological Dictionary asserts) to date from the time when the rabbinical authorities turned toward employing a substitution for the Tetragrammaton Yahweh and using another name for the Almighty in their worship. In proper nouns – the names of people – the Tetragrammaton was omitted wherever possible, or it was distorted or obliterated by the addition of the vowel points for Adonai, the surrogate name of worship: viz – Jehovah, Yehoshua, Jehoshophat etc.
The Memorial Name Yahweh
While some advocates of the “Yahshuah” spelling have asserted that “The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament states that the “Greek form of a list of Old Testament characters who in pre-exilic Hebrew are called Yahshu’a and usually after the Exile Yeshu’a” that spelling does not appear anywhere in the Theological Dictionary. What Kittel actually says is, “The Greek form of a list of OT characters who in pre-exilic Hebrew are called יְהוֹשֻׁעַ [Yehoshua’] and usually after the Exile יֵשׁוּעַ [Yeshua’].[3]

And so on and so forth, ad infinitum.
The fact is God doesn’t have a problem with Greek because a large partt of the Bible was written in Greek.
But we know for a fact the Greek name of “Jesus” works perfectly and we don’t need to change it.
You have no spiritual ability to receive the truth and so you randomly cut and paste a form of defence.
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;.” (1 Corinthians 13:1-13 ESV)
How can a great movement like the azusa street revival and the men God used be considered false?
I’m rather shocked at all of the names on this list….so WHO is teaching SOUND doctrine, if all of the above listed here are teaching FALSE doctrine?

When it comes to who we should follow the answer to that would be to follow Jesus and what the Bible says, with the Holy Spirit to guide us, teach and interpret.
Most people and ministries, have their own understanding, their own ‘angle’ or axe to grind, with their own agenda, and people are fallible. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t listen them – unless they are way out of line which sadly though many are – but we should not accept everything they say as gospel (pardon the pun).
We couldn’t say this any better than John 10 does with the parable of the good shepherd.
Having said that, there are some good preachers such as Milton Green (now deceased) who was an ordinary but genuine person who was genuinely saved. He was not very educated but in important ways he had an exceptional understanding of what the Bible says, and of human nature and he left us with a whole library of video and audio recordings. He also wrote an excellent book called, “The Great Falling Away Today” which can be downloaded for free from a link at the foot of this page, as can his interesting testimony.
Amos 8:11 warned us of the famine of the Word of God. His prophecy, sadly, is being fulfilled right now.

The list is interesting. I just wonder how they (those you listed) and other godly people will say about you and what you teach. We are all humans and “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. The media is certainly full of so many claims and explanations from different Bible scholars, theologians, doctrines and ordinary Christians of vast religious backgrounds relating to Scripture. But, God’s Word remains the Truth in Reality. You are right that all Christians must be warned now to take heed of false prophets (teachers) and their teachings, lest we ourselves be deceived also. I thank God that His Word has explicit instructions and teaching on this particular warning (subject), hence one only has to read carefully and prayerfully to avoid being deceived by what he or she sees and hears. Surely, everyone of whom you have listed (plus any additional ones, that you have good knowledge of ) including yourself must be tested with the Word of the Almighty God: “To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them”. Only, then can I be able know the true “wolves in sheep’s clothing”. One cannot just believe what you have mentioned is “truth in reality”, unless all of you are tested with the Word of God – to see who is in harmony with God’s Word and His Will. That will require one to prayerfully and carefully study what he or she sees and hears from each one ,including yourself, in the light of the Holy Scriptures before jumping into conclusion. The test of sincerity, however, is not in words but in deeds. Christ does not say to any man, What say ye more than others? but “What do ye more than others?” (Matthew 5:47). For, false prophets according to Jesus: “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16, 20). Besides being “doers of the Word”, the fruits of the Holy Spirit are ingredients to look for in all of those people that you have listed, including yourself – and I say all of us.
You might want to remove Kim Clement from this list. His prophecies have been coming true. They include Donald Trump becoming President.
Thank you. Hmm, one of his books is recommended by Paul Crouch. We need to test the spirits as the Bible says. Some prophecies coming true or saying some things which are true does not mean someone is not a false prophet but we must always check anything and everything – including people and especially teachers – against what the Bible says.
